__________ pushed aside
a few tall sunflower stems, trying to see up to the sky.
“Do you see anything,”
_________ asked.
“Just sunflowers,”
_________ sighed.
__________ let the
fuzzy sunflower stems slip out of his/her hands, then sat down on the
ground.
“We could try to re-trace
our steps,” __________ suggested.
The two searched the
soil immediately surrounding their feet, but neither could make out a
single footprint. At
almost the exact same time they both said, “Or not,” and then laughed
despite their unfortunate predicament.
“Well, we better think
of something, and fast too.
It’ll be getting dark soon,” __________ said.
“That’s it,” shouted __________. We can use the _______ to find our way out of here,
but we have to hurry.”
_________ didn’t know exactly what _________ had in mind, but
______ was willing to try anything to get them home.
Based on what you’ve learned about sunflowers, how might you use
the sunflowers to find your way out of the field? What does the solution have to do
with it getting dark or the sun setting? How could you use sunflowers to determine east and west?
