Using plant height to assess growth (and plant health) only reveals part ofthe story. Some plants can grow very tall, but still not be very healthy. In addition to measuring plant height, you can also measure plant mass. You can record plant mass by taking regular measurements if you have grown your plant in a container or at the end of your experiment when you can dig it up. While you may not be able to obtain a weight measurement, you can still make additional observations about your plant. Does your plant have dense, big leaves or small sparesly distributed leaves? Which do you think is a sign of a healthy plant?
